For the last six years Hertz Guatemala has been a loyal sponsor of the charity golf tournament organized by United Airlines to collect funds for the Guatemalan Association of Down Syndrome (AGSD). Previously, Hertz Guatemala was for more than a decade a sponsor of the Continental Airlines Toys for Tots Charity Annual Golf Tournament, which changed its name to United Charities Annual Golf Tournament when the two airlines merged.
AGSD, the major Down Syndrome association in Guatemala, is a nonprofit organization that provides special education services, speech therapy, and pre-employment training. Founded in September 2005, it has welcomed hundreds of babies, children and young people with Down Syndrome (also known as Down’s Syndrome), who have had a very favorable change in their quality of life due to the education and therapies received at the association.
James Rogers, General Manager, Hertz Guatemala, said: “As firm believers in corporate social responsibility, we feel very privileged to sponsor the annual United Charities Golf Tournament, helping AGSD to continue to improve and expand its services. Thank to this annual tournament, more kids have the opportunity to live a happier and more independent life.
“By participating in charitable events such as this, Hertz Guatemala not only provides key support to our community but also, we strengthen our relationships with managers and owners of local businesses, embassy officials and some very loyal customers to the brand.”
Established in a small office in Guatemala City 53 years ago, Hertz Guatemala currently operates from 10 locations across Guatemala City, Antigua Guatemala, Quetzaltenango, and Flores in Peten (Tikal). They also offer used car sales. Operated by Rentautos, S.A., Hertz Guatemala is the second longest running Hertz franchisee in Latin America, after Hertz Chile. The company is the first and only car rental provider in Guatemala to hold a Sustainable Tourism Certification, which it achieved in 2014.
